Born in 1941, the work of Jean-Claude Campana represents, not a conventional Venise, but rather a Baroque, secret Venise with a touch of sensual mystery. He tries to render the nuances of the light, ochre and bleu monochromes, standing out from powerful reds. He uses the glaze technique to perfection which allows him to depict imperceptible shades. Venise is represented throught the luminous highlights of the laguna, electric skies, surrealist lights, and the XVIIIth century carnaval atmosphere, full of refinement and extreme delights. In his canvases, a magical and poetic atmosphere of rare intensity prevails. Campana's Artistic sincerity gives him a real dimension of eternity.
