Born in Brive-la-Gaillarde (Corréze) in 1933, Jean Baptiste Valadié obtains his diploma from the National School of Applied Arts at age 22. In his work, he never ceases to demonstrate his graphic skills and his power of suggestion always revitalized through the use of transparency and glazed layers.
He underlines the feminine purity and grace through a firm execution always light yet vibrant.
His talent, recognized in numerous countries by homages and distinctions, also reaches the sphere of illustration through published works of poetry. Jean Baptiste Valadié invents a world made out of the intense desert lights and nuances softly contrasting of the ocean depths, without invading it. Valadié, like a magician, recreates the world in its exact and infinite beauty. The woman represents beauty and softness, the promise of intense pleasures while man is only portrayed through anguish and violence. The woman always has the last word, divine creature for all eternity, strong yet fragile, she carries with her all of the promises of the world’s future and gives us hope.
